The Georgia Tech Army ROTC began in 1917 with two authorized units, the Infantry and Coast Artillery. Bobby Dodd (1908-1988) served as Director of Athletics at Georgia Tech from 1950 to 1976 and head coach of the Yellow Jackets football team from 1945 to 1966.
